The Southern Ontario Nature and Science Illustrators are pleased to announce their upcoming Members’ Exhibit 2015, to be held at the Giant’s Rib Discovery Centre, located at the Dundas Valley Conservation Area in Hamilton ON. This will be SONSI’s fifth annual members’ exhibit since the group formed in 2010.
For the first time, SONSI has chosen a theme for the exhibit: The Natural and Cultural History of Southern Ontario, with subject matter ranging from historical reconstruction to native plants and animals. The theme allows SONSI members to showcase their dedication to illustrating the natural environment of our region and their commitment to sharing this dedication with a larger community of art and nature lovers.
Did you know that research has shown that exposure to nature is beneficial for both our physical and mental health and well-being? Even if one is not able to get outdoors, health benefits can be gained simply by looking at images of nature (or even seeing the colour green).
So, do yourself a physical and mental favour, come out to the Giant’s Rib Discovery Centre, and see the latest exhibit of beautiful science and nature-themed art by SONSI members, as well as some spectacular fall colours!
The exhibit is open for viewing on Saturdays and Sundays 10 AM – 3 PM, from Sept 5 thru to Nov 1, 2015. Please check out the Dundas Valley Conservation Area’s website for more information, Trail Centre hours, location, and directions. All visitors to the Conservation Area are asked to pay a $10/vehicle entry fee, to help support Trail and Area maintenance.
