The 2012 winners for the Ruth and Sylvia Schwartz Children’s Book Awards were revealed May 31 at Parkdale Junior and Senior Public School, where students gathered for a celebratory presentation. The winner in the Children’s Picture Book category was “Loon”, written by Susan Vande Griek and illustrated by SONSI member Karen Reczuch.
I’ve always envied the winners of this award because it’s the kids that pick the winner. There’s no better compliment for a children’s book illustrator. – Karen
