The SONSI meeting on April 24 was a delightful visit to the home of SONSI member Fiona Reid, near Milton. The small turnout worked well for a tour of Fiona’s studio, where we saw many of her original paintings and had wonderful impromptu conversations about local printers, publishing, and other topics. After that, we wandered through Fiona’s “backyard,” 26 acres of fantastic Niagara Escarpment wilderness.
Learning from each other, we identified numerous spring wildflowers and other plants, as well as insects, salamanders and pond life.
We were so intent on our explorations that we never got around to doing any sketching! Nonetheless, we had a great afternoon getting to know each other and spending time talking about art and nature. Thank you, Fiona, for opening your beautiful home to SONSI.
At our next meeting on May 16 at the Kortright Centre, SONSI members will have another opportunity to explore nature, get to know other members, and do some field sketching. If you’re planning to attend, please rsvp to Emily by May 12.
